At the Frost Family Foundation, we believe that thriving equitable relationships are at the heart of impactful philanthropy. Our relationships with our grantees are rooted in trust. We are honored to partner with some of Hawaii’s most effective change makers. Without them, our impact wouldn’t be possible.
The Frost Family Foundation was an early adopter of socially responsible investment strategies, partnering with Natural Investments in 2012 to build a portfolio that has consistently out performed the other market indicators while ensuring the growth of a resilient green economy.
Founded in 2010 by Karin Frost after the sale of her company, Ergobaby, Karin guides the Foundation’s giving with guidance from her parents Robert and Svea Frost, her brother Erik Frost, and her son Keala. Ashley Lukens has served as the Foundation’s Executive Director since 2016. Since 2012, we have distributed over $3.5 million to community organizations across the state of Hawaii.

OUR GRANTEES
PROCESS AND TIMELINE
Every year, we curate a small group of new grantees.
Currently our grants are by invitation only but anyone can email ashley@frostfamilyfoundation.org if you would like to apply.
We strive to support organizations for multiple years, provide general operating funding, and lean on relationships and not reports for the sharing of impact. To seek out grantees, we actively engage with a wide range of environmental organizations, community groups and other foundations; monitor ongoing and emerging strategies; and invite proposals from potential grantees based on priorities set by the Foundation’s Trustees.
